Anybody had the same problem as me whit their Futur??

Today after i shaved , i decided to open my Futur at level 6 so it can dry better.But when i arrived at 6 i twist a litle too much and i felt a pop. I still can put it back to lower numbers but the thing is when i arrive at 6 i can turn it a lot more so my razor can be half a inch open. I dont no what to do , i bought it last week at westcoast shaving, i dont know if they would send me a new one,,please give me ur advices.

Send Them an email and explain what happened. It may be a warranty issue.

Try unscrewing it all the way and see what happens?!! I regularly disassemble my Futur by unscrewing the handle from the head. It's a four piece razor. You just have to watch out for the spring on the last twist.

When you put it back together you may find the 1 doesn't line up with the handle notch on the tightest setting. If that's the case you need to disassemble again and turn the blade carrier through 180 degrees relative to the collar above the handle.

Hope this makes sense, it is actually pretty simple. You haven't broken your razor.

I had to do what sjohr suggested with my Futur a couple times while cleaning it up. Please though, I know this sounds obvious, take the blade out when trying to disassemble.

I just had this horrid flash of someone trying to twist the head on a Futur with a blade in it and just flaying their hand off.

Becareful doing it, there is a little piece inside that is supposed to stop the turning. When you get it apart make sure that it isn't damage. The pop might have just been the spring inside taking a turn.

Well I may have misled the OP on this. Just looked inside my Futur and there is the tiniest piece of metalwork on the undercut of the brass boss at the end of the handle. That must have been part of the stop. I cannot imagine what that engaged with on the other side as I see no evidence of any damage at all on the collar .

It must have happened years ago. I can't say I've missed it. But I do vaguely remember there originally being some resistance just beyond six, but that was a long time ago.

Seems to me like a bit of a weakness in the design of the Futur. I don't recall any instructions or special precautions for disassembling the razor.

I came across a disassembly guide for the Futur either here or at shavemyface.com. I don't recall which.

Basically there are two stops on the Futur, one on the head and one on the handle that stop the handle from going past 6.5 (on mine at least). To disassembly it you turn it to 6, push the head down (its a tough spring). then continue to turn the handle and it will come a part.

starting to sound like the pop was the stop breaking off. I am guessing if you take it apart and look at the bottom of the head or the handle there is a small spot where something has been sheared off.
