Any way to date a pre-war Tech?

I am looking for a pre-war Tech (specifically 1939). Is there any way to put a date on one?

Accurately? Not really ...

Most of these for example were produced from 1938-'41:

Then they produced mostly Contract Techs until the end of the war, but I read somewhere that the production of these Fat Handle Techs for the civilian market didn't stop completely, I'm not sure how accurate this is, though.

We're the triangle hole techs only produced from 38-45? Then the oval slots after? This is what I have "assumed" but now I'm curious. And we're they only with the contract handle or the fat handle?

Thanks. My parents were born in '39 and my mother passed away a few months ago. I really would like to find a Tech from the era and put it in my rotation of DE's.

I'm sorry for your loss.

You can't be 100% sure but I think the vast majority of the Fat Handle Pre War Techs were produced between 1938-'41. Even if it isn't exactly from 1939, it's pretty close. You can find a very nice one without spending too much, good luck!
