Any updates on the head shaving equipment?

Hi, I am new to this forum but have been a dedicated DE guy for almost 15 years. It is great to find this commnity. In addition to shaving my face, I shave my head a few times a week and the cost of the cartridges is adding up faster than I would like. Do you have any suggestions for the mildest DE razor for head shaving. I've tried my Futur and that was not a good idea :tongue_sm Thank you in advance and hope learning more and more.

Even when I use DE on my face I stick with Headblade or a cartridge for my head. I've just had the hardest time getting the angles right with DE.

I found my 40's SS to work great. I also have a travel tech that seemed to give a better shave, but the handle is tiny so it can be a pain to reach some places. Like you my FUTUR was not a plesant experience.

I would suggest a tech, blue tipped SS or even a Weshi. A mild razor is not necessarily needed though, it is more about technique. Really focus on using minimum pressure and err on the side of a shallow angle (riding on the head) rather then digging in with a steep angle (towards the safety bar). I have become comfortable shaving my head with a slant and have no problems with it.

I did use my tech a couple of weeks ago and I felt like I needed at least one additional pass to get anything approaching the results I get using my slant.

Give it a shot, go slow and careful. Maybe start by using your DE on the parts of your head that you can see directly in the mirror and finishing with your cartridge. As you gain confidence add more territory.

How about the Vision? I undertand that it could be a meat mincer when fully opened but when it is fully closed just how mild is it? Is comparable to the Progress on 1?

I'd suggest a long handle Gillette Super Adjustable.
You can dial this razor down to be very mild and the long handle makes shaving the back of the head and neck easy.
The long combed NEW is also a fine head shaving razor, the long combs make maintaining proper blade angle easy.

+1

I use a DE on the face but stick with my Headblade Shadow and a Walmart/Wilkinson Sword twin cartridge on the dome. I have tried the DE but it takes way too long and because my hair is so thick and coarse it just seems to tug and pull no matter the angle or direction of the pass. I have tried several DE's and blades with pretty much the same results.

+2! I need to get shaved and into work in the morning, and while I use a Futur on my face, the Headblade with a cart allows me to zip painlessly over my head.
