Any tips for first shave with Feather AS-D2?

Been DE shaving approximately 2 months now and love the whole process and variety of tools, creams, soaps, blades, etc! Just got my new Feather AS-D2 today and have first shave tomorrow morning! Any tips on angle changes if I've been using ATT Atlas M-1 or Weber Polished with Classic handle? Thanks in advance!

The only blade that works for me in my AS-D1 is the Feather blade.......Big shocker there right?

I hear there is more exposure with the D2 so it might work with a wider range of blades.

Thanks! Will see how it goes with a Feather blade in the morning. Have seen some stuff about the angle being different with the Feather. Anyone experienced that as well? Don't want razor burn, so plan on taking a very shallow angle approach and adjust to audible feedback!

With the D1 the angle range that you have for usable exposure is narrow. If you strayed just a bit, the blade came off your face. This design works great to generate comfortable shaves but can be frustrating without a steady hand.

Just start with the cap on your face and rotate the razor till you feel the blade just licking your face. I have lost too much of my hearing down through time to hear the blade "sing" as some say. I more feel/hear a raspy sound through my jaw bone when getting my best shave. Mastering the Feather was well worth the effort to me.

More or less in the same boat as you are - had my first DE shave at the end of April. Got the AS-D2 because of how mild it is and because my Merkur 34C, combined with my rookie skills, was giving me some razor burn. The Feather is sooo much easier to shave with and more forgiving. I think I like it for now. I'm just trying to beat my ingrown hair issues that I've been dealing with for the past several years and am actually avoiding too close a shave. This razor was a step in the right direction for me anyway. Hope you're enjoying yours!

And as the other posters said, it's easy to find the correct blade angle. If you have it wrong, not a thing will happen! I'm sure you figured it out.

What led you to buy the Feather razor?

Wow sorry to hear about your Hearing loss when it comes to Hearing the blade sing, Funny how other senses we never put to use, just comes into play ) Llike the Raspy Sound through your jaw bone, Glad you are still getting great shaves out of your AS D-1 .

Big fan of quality tools - always make doing the job much easier and pleasant! I'm willing to pay more to get a heavier, better built razor that will last! It is totally worth that price when you make that first pass and feel how close, yet smooth and non-irritating on your face - absolutely amazing to me. That same exact blade in other razors can make my face feel raw - would never shave 4 days in a row with a Feather blade before!!

Tom, stellar advice that was right on point! Thanks so much again - loving this combo!!!!

Haven't used the ATT or Weber but you always have to be careful and assume that adjustments are required when you're using a new DE. Good luck with it!

Especially this one where you end up having much more of the cap touching your face than other razors.

I'm not afraid to admit after 3 shaves I'm very much still trying to figure it out!

Still loving it guys! 5 days in a row with a Feather blade in it - amazing razor combo and no irritation or burn! :001_tt1:
