What's new

any TCM fans here?

I love the Turner Classic Movies channel. Great movies no commercials. I wish there were more channels like this on cable! :thumbup1:

I don't have cable anymore, but when I go visit my folks they watch TCM religiously. I miss having it myself.

On a side note, AMC USED to be that way as well. I just hope that TCM never falls to AMC's level. Excluding Mad Men, of course.

Yup. And they respect the movies.

I wish IFC had more respect for their movies, but they stretch and cut their movies to fit the screen. I can't watch the HD version of IFC because they sometimes crop or stretch the movie to fit the non HD channel, then add insult to injury by (always) stretching it out to fit the wide screen HD format. They end up cutting part of the film and then making everyone look short and fat.

I like TCM as well. It's enabled me to see quite a few older classics that I might otherwise have missed, as well as some more recent movies that I really like.

I just don't get the appeal of the old movies....:001_wub:

Whew! I was afraid that this thread was about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre!

I like TCM a lot. It's a tired complaint, but there are so many specialized channels available on satellite or cable that have the potential for showing something interesting but just seem to load up on garbage. TCM is one of the few channels that consistently broadcasts good programming, carefully selected. I haven't checked the listings for tonight yet, but I'm pretty sure that if I just switch to it later, there will be someting worth watching being screened.

TCM rules, but lately I've been on a film noir and and 60's and 70's thrillers jag via Netflix...so many good movies, so little time...

TMC is great I always enjoy Robert Osborne's commentaries on the films they show. Fox Movie Channel has some great 60's-90' movies as well with a lot of informative segments in between the films. I also enjoy HDNet, which is also commercial free.

I love TCM! Especially at this time of year in the leadup to the Academy Awards when they are doing "30 days of Oscar", lots of chances to Tivo some great classics-

Love the channel and watch it all the time. Really enjoyed the The Thin Man series during the holidays as well as the Sherlock Holmes marathon.:thumbup1:
