Here are two glowing reviews of that razor: http://www.amazon.com/Parker-Butter...=dp_db_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

My first DE razor was a Parker 91R and it was defective, but I bought it from Amazon (same people offering it for sale where the review is) and they allowed me to return it.

Parkers are hit or mis. But if you want to try one go to Super Safety Razors online. The owner Howie has a good reputation for customer service. He will handle any problem you might encounter. He is a stand up guy.

Thanx "Slantman" :thumbup1:...But I think the 2010 (barber pole look), Parker 99R is of a much better workmanship than in the past and/or past models.

Also, thanx "Californian Cajun" :thumbup1: ..I did read the two (2) reveiws on Amazon, but I was looking for any professional 'un-biased' feedback (please...no Parker trashing for now OK?), from Members who currently own & use a 2010 Parker 99R.

Thanx :biggrin1:

Didn't I read somewhere that the current models have silo doors that are something like 2.5 times thicker than the older models?

I did one of the writeups on Amazon. Mine is a fine razor that I have used regularly in my rotation and I like it very much. It is big, heavy, easy to hold and gives a great shave. I've had no problems with mine. The butterfly doors open/close like they should and lock down tight. The blade gap is equal on both sides. The finish is fantastic.

As for the quality of the shave, it's wonderful. I do a 2 pass with touch up shave, going for a nice DFS shave daily. With this razor I get closer to BBS than any other I have without any problems.

My experience has been positive and I can recommend this razor and vendor.

I have a Parker 82R that I bought based on the Amazon reviews. At the time, I hadn't heard of B&B, or been caught up in the whole wetshaving hobby. I just wanted an alternative to the $3-$4 cartridges. I ordered the Parker with a puck of Col Conk's and a Tweezerman brush ('cuz Amazon suggested it). My first couple of weeks of DE shaves were with that combo, and boy were they close!

Then I found this place, and RAD kicked in, and I read all about how inferior Parker razors are. So I cleaned it, and shelved it, and shaved with as many other razors as I could procure. When I recently won a Gillette slim off of EBay, I even tried to sell the Parker on the B&S forum here, thinking that one TTO would be enough. No takers...there's no love for Parker in this little corner of the web. :001_tt2:

Thing is, I've been struggling to find a setting on the Slim that gives me a great shave. I've found settings that are not aggressive enough, and settings that are too aggressive, but I have yet to get a truly marvelous shave out of it. I chalked it up to my relative newness, and figured I'd keep trying until I got it right. After all, everyone here loves the old Gillette adjustables.

So after reading this thread this afternoon, I decided to try the Parker again. I loaded up a cheap Lord Chrome blade, lathered up some Speick cream, and gave myself one of the best shaves in my life in three passes with no touch ups.

I am so enthused about the shave I got today...especially now that I've had the opportunity to try a good assortment of different razors...that it's the Slim that will be leaving me, and the Parker will be staying. In fact, I think I want to start a "My Parker VS the World" thread, where I trade razors for a week with other members of this board to see if I can generate some love for the Parker.

Mine is one nice razor, that is now back in its rightful place next to my beloved DE89!

I admit that I owned a Parker 90R for a few days then quietly placed it in the recycling bin so it could be reincarnated into something useful. Hopefully a handful of paperclips.

It's true that Parkers get little love here, and also true that I've gotten some bad shaves from them (as well as some good ones,) but--it does seem like their razors have gotten better over time. They may never replace my favorites, but they do seem to be committed to improvement.

I have the 98R and it is an excellent razor. I get the closest shaves with that razor. My 96R gives excellent shaves likewise. Although the butterfly doors don't align perfectly when closed, the blade is aligned properly and perfectly straight. I'm tempted to try out some more of their razors.

Thanx Poppi for your great input :thumbup1:...you've been a great help.

I believe I have to wait 30 days (unless the Administrator 'grandfathers' me in), on this Board before I can write a Reveiw (for me...I love the weight and feel of this Razor & I get great 'super-close' shaves everytime),....on this Razor :wink2:

My other Tools are;

1. Shark Stain-less Steel (aggressive enough for me), DE Blades.

2. Frank (FS), Shaving (Chinese Badger Hair…purchased on Ebay), Silver-Tip Brush (incredibly soft and the bristle is 'flexable‘ , but it has such has a great ‘feel’ to it).

3. Williams Shaving Soap (yes...it's low cost, but it does have glycerine, provides me with great lathering properties [stiff peaks], and this hard-milled soap lasts much longer than those 'softer' soaps).

4. Now that I'm a 'Big Boy' & all 'grown-up'....my scent of choice is Clubman Special Reserve.

Thanx
