Got out for a couple hours yesterday afternoon! First time out with the garrett gta 1000! Found some stuff and had a good time! It seems like a simple detector but I have much to learn about it
Got this in the mail yesterday! Pretty excited about it. A fisher 1266x . Got a deal on it as it needs a battery box repair. Looks like an easy fix. Then it will be back up and running. My first time trying an analog machine that is tone only. I've heard these have a pretty good reputation so I'm excited to give it a try .
Tinkered with it last night. Got some corrosion removed, bad parts removed, and rigged it so it could be tested. Works great! Also already have the parts for the repair ordered.

Haha nice! That green garrett detector you can slide the battery box off the back and it has a belt clip . Probably going to leave it on the rod though. That weight towards the back seems to help balance out the swing with a larger coil. Interesting stuff. My detectorist friend was an audible only guy.
A tip that he gave me that I thought I wouldn't mention,
because nobody else does it,
is to detach the box from the rod and attach the box to your belt.
Even if the reason for calling quitting time
is never the weight of the box,
on some subconscious level
the weight of the box on the rod
factors into it.
He used to swing it pretty quickly in 180 degree arcsHaha nice! That green garrett detector you can slide the battery box off the back and it has a belt clip . Definitely . I'm a fan of headphones. Don't want to bother people around me with too much beeping haha. Also, he was into maxing out his batteries.
Headphones use less power than the box speaker.
Very cool! I hope to find an axe head someday when out detecting.
I had a cap gun like that when I was a kid.Found a bunch of coins on my first trip to the park with the legend. Also found a couple things yesterday at my grandmas but no coins. Looks like an old toy derringer cap gun.
Then I added some grip tape over the foam on a few of my detectors. I like it! Cheap but nice upgrade to the foam.

+1 and I think most of you posting your finds on here would really enjoy the series. We are not detectorists but we found the shows most entertaining. But then we really enjoy British humor!^
This is one of the *great* tv series of the last 20 years. I couldn't recommend it more strongly!
Nice! This is the second cap gun I have found on the same hill haha. Must have been a little kid play site.I had a cap gun like that when I was a kid.
