Any hope for Simpson shedder?

I purchased a Simpson Major Turnback in super badger about 8 - 10 years ago. This was in the pre-Vulfix era. I used it a only few times as I found I preferred the compactness of my Plisson Turnback for travel. As a result, the Major has sat unused for a long time. In preparation for listing it for sale in the BST forum here, I pulled it out of its box and used it the last few mornings--just so I could describe it accurately. I find that I am losing 7-8 hairs per shave, most after rinsing, when there are 4 or 5 that are sticking out above the others. I have a vague recollection that it was shedding hair when new, but I think at the time that I attributed it to normal brush break-in.

Alas it appears that I own one of the notorious Simpson shedders. Is there any economically feasible remedy for this, or should I just toss it? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Well I went through the same thing....minus the 8-10 years. The way I did it I was pleasantly surprised at the reaction and need for a quality "pay it forward". If you are comfortable sacrificing what you coulda me off a shedding brush I recommend a PIF where someone in need gets it. Whatever you decide don't throw it away. Lot of good folks that would be happy trying a quality shedding brush. Maybe select a name from the list that was just compiled on mine only a few posts down? Good luck.

Thanks, everyone. Looks like step one is to shampoo and brush out for a few more days and then see where things stand. PIF is a good thought if it continues shedding. I will definitely not trash it. I had forgotten just how good this brush is. Very soft tips and a firm shaft, especially for such a small diameter knot.
