Any good blades in actual stores?

Hey. I really hate ordering online, cause I'm more the: "I want it all and I want in NOW", kind of guy. Patience is not my best virtue. So, I was curious if any of you, in or around Raleigh, NC, have stumbled upon any decent store bought DE blades?

Thanks.

I live in Durham, and here's what I have found locally:

Around The World Market on NC 54 in Durham: Treet SS DE blades (in the past, there only seem to be Wilkies there the last time I checked) Also good for generic alum blocks and Godrej and other Indian shave creams. I really like the Treets, they're not the sharpest, but boy are they smooth!

Opulence of Cary (off Cary Pkwy at Kildare Farms Rd.): Derby and Merkur DE blades (overpriced, but there ya go). Also available: Proraso, Castle Forbes and EJ products.

There's also a discount barber supply store on 70 just west of RDU that carries Dorco 300's (not my favorite blades, but available locally), as well as a full lineup of Pinaud and Master products.

That's all that I can think of right now. If you find a new source, please let us all know. There are a lot of wetshavers in the Triangle!

If you are looking for injector blades, the Lowe's Foods near RDU carries the Chinese Schicks. You can also pick up Wilkinson Sword DE blades at Wally World.

I have the swords from w-mart. I personally think they are awesome, I get a good shave for about 20 cents/blade. What's the general consensus of how they stack up next to the other quality names in blades?

And I know that Sally's carries Personna blades, I like the swords better though.

I live in Apex - I order online mostly. Locally I've found of course the wal-mart wilkies. Lowe's foods near my house carries 'Top Care' blades 10 for 2.29, strongly suspect these are rebranded Personnas because they're made in USA. That's a better deal than the 5 or 6 bucks the drugstores charge for the same 10 blades. Also Dollar General Dorco blades.

I'm in Raleigh near 70 & 540. Do you know the name of this barber supply store? It's not Sally's in Brier Creek, is it?

Hi. Not from your neck of the woods but I'm sure there is a Walmart nearby - try the Personna Platinum Chrome blades...outstanding.

I did a quick google search and I believe it's a place called K Beauty & Barber Supply. There are 2 locations one on Capital and one on Glenwood. I'm going to try and find the one on Capital this weekend if I get a chance.

That's the one, guys. I can only speak to the one on Capital Blvd, since I've never been to the Glenwood location.

Walmart dropped their contract with Personna/ASR a couple years ago and replaced it with Wilkinson Sword. No Personna products have been on WM shelves since.

I went to K Discount Beauty on Capital last night. The Pinaud AS is on the right hand side of the store (as you walk in), is down pretty low. The Dorco DE blades are behind the counter, you have to ask for them. I picked up the Dorco St-301 blades and Pinaud Special Reserve. The dorco blades are great! They were $1.99/10. The wife is not to fond of the Special Reserve though.

Just a heads-up for those of you local to the Triangle area of NC: the Around the World Market on NC 54 in Durham has Godrej Rich Foam cream on a blow-out sale: $0.99 per tube, and there were at least 10-20 tubes in stock. Check out the sale bin, though-- the on-sale stock is not shelved with the rest of the shaving supplies.

Edit: My mistake, it's the Deluxe Lather cream, but it's of no consequence since both are the exact same scent!
