i just finished emt school, and applied for a job at an ambulance company near me.

did the first part of the interview wed,now im waiting till monday or tuesday to get word back for step 2.

EMT B/fireman here. Where are you located? What level EMT school did you complete? Congrats...it's a rewarding career but I must warn you, hours can get/be crazy

EMT here. If you need a pt job look at hospitals and health clinics. Most of the time you can work as an ma using your new cert. Congrats! What state are you in btw?

was an EMT a long time ago. All the ambulance services around me went to using paramedics around the time I got my cert, never really did get a job actually doing EMT work. I'll admit that the certificate certainly helped in getting my first 2 jobs in the mental health field though. Both bosses that hired me loved the fact that I was a life guard and an EMT and could handle situations that the kids we were working with would get into.
I do know that a lot of security outfits like having EMT's. At the time I was an EMT I also applied for hot shots, I got an interview but didn't get the job, (not enough experience lol)

Used to be an EMT-B on a volunteer FD and emergency response team in a chemical plant. Very rewarding and challenging. I think you have a certain number of emergencies you can treat and respond to, though. I reached mine and gave it up.

im in Louisiana, and all the hospitals here are begging for f/t er techs.
but after 6mo on an ambulance i can work for the casinos here as security/hospitality.

working in a casino is good i hear, but if you continue in the healthcare field, youll want to get on with a hospital if you have the chance. they can be very heard to get hired onto, but once they do, the benefits are usually really good and if you get your nursing degree it will be easier to find a job as you will already work for a hosptial.
