Antique store straight help

I would greatly appreciate some help, since I have no experience with straight razors. I came across this one yesterday in an antique shop and bought it for $15. The blade is quite sharp, the edge appears straight and without chips to the naked eye. It is marked "Kiebitz" Solengen on one side; Fromm Bros Newark N. J. made in Germany on the other. The scales are nothing special. Do you guys with the expertise see any obvious red flags here (I've read similar threads and realize that there is often a litany), or would this be worth having it made shave ready? Thank you so much! -- Mike

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. You got what looks like to be a nice deal. It's hard to tell from your pics, but there's also a little tiny crack near the pivot pin which is darkened and suggests the scales might be bone. I doubt the crack is a problem, but if they're bone, then you got a really nice deal.

Do you know how to hone and clean it up?

It has a bit of hone wear at the tip, like they raised the handle when coming off the stone, but it should hone up ok. Should be a fine shaver.

That sounds encouraging, thanks. I'm not ready to do my own honing, so any recommendations for a meister would be appreciated.

Plenty of guys around here can hone 'em up. Drop a PM to rickboone1...he's been on a honing kick lately and puts pretty nice edges on.
