"Self appointed king of Arkoland"
As a nurse, I've always dated bottles of medicine when I opened them, even at home. Of course, I'm probably just a little more than OCD, lol. Perhaps he/she was doing it to remember when they were purchased?

Very cool find! Those United Whelan blades were produced by the United Cigar-Whelan Stores Corp. of NYC in the '40s. The Schulte was made by the Schulte Cigar Stores company.

At one time, United Cigar Stores was the largest cigar retailer in the country (3000 or so stores in the '20s and more than 1000 in the '50s), and it sold all kinds of stuff, including Mickey Mouse watches, shoe trees, and (obviously) razor blades. Schulte Cigars was also a huge retailer with hundreds of stores nationwide at one time.
