Antique store purchase...tell me what you think

I been going to lots of local flea markets lately and finding nothing but Kriegars (sp?) and orange country chopper straights. It was tempting....but i respectfully passed paying 15 bucks for a straight blade with flames and motorcycles on it.

Anyways, I decided to go to the local antique mall to look around today. I found quite a few straight razors, im still somewhat new to this, so i would like feedback regarding what i bought.

This is a "Biltmore" boar brush, I payed 15 bucks for it...after a shampoo and conditioning treatment it feels pretty soft. Havent used it yet, but im looking forward to giving it a try. Obviously it wont come close to my Shavemac

Unfortunately, I didnt have much time to look around at all the razors they were closing in about 20 minutes. But i knew i wanted to buy something...i saw a few w&bs, well above 100 each. Then i noticed this Torrey, which is a name i have seen thrown around here and on the classifieds. I paid 30 dollars for it. I liked the color of the scales, and the shape of the blade. Unfortunately i dont know how to measure or i could give you some more detail...but it is smaller than my 6/8 dovo.

Anyways, I would greatly appreciate it if the expert eyes here could lend me a hand. What do you think...did i spend too much?

Also, im sending the Torrey in to Rayman for honing. Along with 3 other blades. It is dull as can be

Congrats on the nice score!
That brush is a beauty, and though I can't give an appraisal, I would have gladly paid that and more for that brush.

The straight looks nice, even though it looks like it needs some work, but that's half the fun of what we do, isn't it?

The straight does need some work for sure. But it centers fine in the scales. So im actually going to send it out to a honer at srp, i kinda like the blackened aged look of the blade. So as long as i can get it shave ready i will enjoy it as is

Why send it over there?...Leighton is here and TRUST me ..he made MY Torrey beyond sharp....

Rayman at srp offers a decent price...im not sure about leightons to be honest. But i am sending 4 razors to him for honing...15 bucks for the first...and 10 bucks a piece for the rest.

Leighton I know charges 15 for the first..I dont know about the rest. Lol choose your own of course! I just wanted to shout out to the MAN who made mine SuperMan sharp. Maybe send two and two...then you can post a comparison???? Anyway great score..I love the brush!

Ill need honing for sure in the future, ill probably try him next. I am in no hurry at all to spend the money on a set of stones to hone with.

RIGHT?!! I am in no hurry to spend money so I can F up my razor then send it back to Leighton to fix. though Im sure he'd appreciate it! Lol! :w00t::lol:

Exactly, hah. I think if i ever do decide to try to start honing, it wont be until i have a larger collection of razors. All the information on the honing techniques are quite overwhelming honestly.

This would only be a fair comparison if they were all the same blades with the same conditions presented to them.
