Antique Shop Find With a Slant

SWMBO and myself went out to the antique shops in Wilmington IL this weekend and pretty much came up bupkis, then on Sunday went to the local antique mall to see if my "go to" razor guy was back from Florida (he was but restock was mostly Old Types and some cased bar handle NEWs) and on the way home spotted an estate sale sign and again aside from enough British Sterling aftershave to keep me going for a year or so came up empty but my route happened to take me out to another road that lead me past a shop I hadn't planned on hitting and I think my luck changed....

Had a price of 25 on it but got the owner to go for 20.
I know it's a Merkur slant but outside of that I not aware of how old it may be or if 20 was a good price (pretty sure it was).
If anyone can at least give me a ballpark idea as to age (shop owner said the seller said it was his grandfather's)as there are no obvious date codes but the threaded base seems to be different from other Merkur slants I've found on line.

Thanks for the info.
Gave it a go last night with one of my "less than stellar" blades (on the theory of see what a so-so blade is like with it) and got an OK shave but think that had more to do with the blade needing shimming.

Super score. I see your mind had Shavagation installed so that you need not think about route/places to stop and just proceed and enjoy the drive. Enjoy that slant.

It's a good score. I have a similar one. You can tell the vintage Merkurs from the newer ones by the cap. The old ones have a smooth cap, the new ones have a scalloped cap. Some of the old ones have a different finish on the handle, some people say it is silver plated. Additionally, Merkur made this model with other brand names. One of them is Hoffritz.

Update on last nights shave.
Same blade but shimmed and the old early 20th century Gillette trick of tightening down then backing off ever so slightly for a more aggressive blade angle got me my usual extra good shave.

Slants are best served with Feathers or other ''sharp'' blades.

Great find. Proof that there's still hope for finding jewels in the wild!!
