Antique Gillette Travel Razor questions

Hi all! I found an seemingly really old Gillette travel razor. When Assembled it's about 2.5 inches long. It has a Gillette logo that is very different than it is today. It has an arrow going through it. The package that holds the blades and has one unopened blade in it. The packing of the blades has a different logo than what is on the razor itself. However, the actual blades themselves have the logo with the arrow.

It's in a small, brown leather case that says "Genuine Leather Austria" on the inside of the case. The outside of hte case has a picture of a a razor on it.

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

Not a slant, just a Travel Tech with the blade tray upside down.:thumbup1:

edit: Though that second picture does seem unusual...

Yeah, I think the tray is upside down...so the actual blade isn't exposed. I had it this way so i could easily slide it in and out of the case without cutting myself. Thanks!

That looks exactly like my Travel Tech. Look at the bottom of the blade tray, and there will be a capital letter and a number on opposite sides of where the handle attaches. This is the date code, which will tell you when your razor was manufactured. For example, an H4 razor would have been made in the 4th quarter of 1962. (Z was 1954, and then the alphabet started over, so you can just count up from there.) The blades that came with it have a date code as well. In the pic, it looks like I2, which would be the 2nd quarter of 1963. Hope you enjoy the razor. A lot of guys don't like the travel razors because the handles are so short, but I really like using mine every once in a while.

Nice! Thanks for the info. It does say H4 on the bottom of the blade tray and I2 on the blades themselves. It was my grandfather's and I found it after he passed away...15 years ago. I just re-found it when I was cleaning out a closet and realized I knew nothing about it.
