ANOTHER what razor is this thread

OK all, sorry to do this to you but I knwow that you all love the questions

So what are these two razors I've just acquired?

One has Gillette on the head, weighs 30g and has an aluminium handle. On the top of the baseplate in the pressed diamond shape it indicates Made in England and underneath the baseplate is an S and a 4.

I would have thought from here - http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Tech/Tech.htm that it was a 1963 tech by the weight BUT the S 4 suggests a 73 tech, although the weight doesn't match. Yes it most definitely is an S not an I

The second is a ball ended tech I presume, again very light at 26g with no marking on the head (worn off?) and Gillette in a diamond and Made in England underneath the baseplate. Again looking here http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Tech/Tech.htm I'm thinking a 51 or 56 looks the closest but not sure about the weight of those or whether they came with an aluminium handle.

I've attached some pics - not sure how good. Any thoughts on what they are and how they might shave (I presume pretty mild if they are techs) would be welcome.

They are both Techs. Looks like one is an aluminum handle.

Techs are all around great, but for some reason I love the British aluminum handle model. Very light, but an excellent razor that will provide many enjoyable shaves.

Did you get them both from the same place?
Perhaps the bottom plates are switched around.

I think it´s a right match: the ball end handle Tech is from the 50s and the other from the 70s

Yes I did but the thread on the two of them is slightly different so they are on the correct handle I checked!

That was my conclusion from looking at the site BUT the S 4 marking threw me and the weight doesn't match - hmmmmmmm

A DUH moment - does the S 4 mean it is definitely a 1973 build and it is just an aluminium handle version whereas the site had the nickel plated version - thus the extra weight????
