Another Synthetic Question: Men-U vs Omega

Does Omega make the Men-U Premier? The knot looks about the same as the one in the Omega 346235 and even the metal stand that is included is by Omega. I'm thinking it's just a rebadged product selling at a higher price. About to pull the string on a new brush and thinking of going with a synthetic. The Mühle 33K257 would be my first choice, but I don't want to spend that much on a brush right now. So I think I'm going to pick up the Omega 346235: it's on sale now at Shoebox for $33. Anyone have experience with this brush? Thanks for sharing any input.

I read a review somewhere (sorry that I can't find it) suggesting that your suspicion is correct. The one real purchasing mistake I've made in my eight months of DE shaving is that I purchased a Men-U Premier brush. In fact I like the Men-U brush a lot: it lathers very well (I mainly face lather), feels fine on my face, and is super-easy to take care of. However, it seems that I could have purchased the equivalent Omega brush for $20+ less. If you're interested in a synthetic brush, the Omega 346235 would be a very solid purchase within the $30 range.

not directly helpful, but for help in the future when you're looking at a somewhat more expensive brush:

i love my muhle silvertip fibre, you'll enjoy the brush. however, i have the 19mm and it's got some fibers that are too stiff in the middle, which forces me to apply my lather using only brushing motions because it won't splay for swirling motions. that's alright with me and i still use it regularly, but just thought i'd let you know before you invest. people who have the 21mm+ models don't report the same thing.

however, if you're into extremely soft brushes and looking for a synthetic, you should go with the muhle BLACK fibre instead. it's cheaper, and it's quite a bit softer and still performs brilliantly. the best place to order one is from shaving.ie, which ships from ireland but still has by far the best price on a black fibre brush that i could find.

if you're not into the softest possible face-feel, but you prefer a little more backbone, then silvertip fibre is the way to go.
