What's new

Another old spice restore

I just read the previous Old Spice restore thread - looks great!

I picked this handle up at our local antique shop and being an OS fan as well as never having seen one of these before I knew I had to restore it.

I put a TGN in my last restore and it's doing ok (I think I set it too low) but this time I went back with a Frank's Finest from Ian Tang in 21mm and I'm very happy with it.

I saw where the last resto had the words painted and I had already planned on doing that. After seeing how nicely that last one turned out I can say I'm *definitely* doing that...

And after:

(how do you remove those little scratches on the base? they cleaned up some but i wasn't sure if i could sand them off or if that would only make it worse)

You can wet sand with a fine grit and light touch, just be aware that the more you sand the scratches out the less pronounced the engraved letters will be. Nice work on the restoration!

Mina-san, arigatou! (thanks fellas)... Before I try painting the lettering I'll have to give wetsanding a go. It does have slight texture on the bottom which I'd risk losing if I sand it but I guess that would be the price to pay for reducing/removing those scratches.

At the antique shop where I picked this up, she had 2 round displays of shaving brushes! :O Next time I go in, I plan to take a pic and post it up here in case any of you want me to pick one up for you...
