Another Newbie Quandry

Appreciate everyone's comments on which of my blades to try next. But now I am wondering what people's experiences are with how many different blades to get in "bulk." For instance, is it reasonable to assume that one blade will work better in a given razor than in another razor? So, if I have two different types of razors, may I guess that perhaps I would prefer to have a different blade for each? Perhaps one brand for my SS and another for my Tech? Thanks, John

It is possible. I like different blades for my different razors and so does my husband but by and large he prefers the personna IPs the best and can use them in anything and they work well. It is all trial and error. I would get you some sample packs and play till you find the combos that work best for you. You may find that one blade is best or that different ones work best in your tech and SS.

Yes, some blades do in fact work better with certain razors, but this differs for each user. I would simply test each blade type in each razor that you own, to find out what combos work best.

I have found for me, that Derbys, Red IPs, and Feathers perform perfectly fine in all of my razors.

Buy a fairly large sized blade sampler (with a bunch of different brands to try out), and work each blade type though multiple razors, that is the only way you are going to know for sure what blades work best for you.

I would have to say that yes...you can put a different blade in the same razor and get different results from your shave.

I do have five-packs of Derbys, Feathers, Iridiums and Yellow 7 O'Clocks. And I will check them all out. Just getting antsy about running out of blades before I decide which ones to get in some greater quantity! Or is it blade AD??!!

AD might hit anyway; it is just another stage you have to go through before you reach shaving adulthood.

Then again, you need a far more extended blade sampler IMO to go to the blade hoarding level; with just 4 brands you are just in the discovery round.

It is like the first girl you love; you can stay there or you can explore...

Nice thing about blades is that you can toss 'em in the bin without a lot of complaints...

The quest and quandry continue!! Saturday I started to shave with my SuperSpeed and my Feather. But the Feather had been used about four times before, and I immediately knew its days were done. Unloaded a once used Yellow 7 Oclock from my Tech, put it in my SuperSpeed, and had a nice shave. Used the Yellow again this morning (third shave on the Yellow) and WOW!!! What a nice shave!! So far I think I like the Yellows a bit better than the Feather, but still have lots of each and a pack of Iridiums yet to try! What fun!!!

Sounds like the start of SBAD.

Dunno how brushes came into this thread?

But it might be RBAD, the king of AD's. :ouch1::ouch1::ouch1:

While all the other stuff is just there to help, the blade is actually doing what it is all about!!

For just a few dimes and only supported by a small B&B subforum this little wonder should not just deserve your respect gentlemen, it deserves its own AD.
