All this retirement talk! I'm looking forward to it. I have my pension from the company that laid me off in 2012. I see that as my revenge upon them for kicking me to the curb after 22 years of award winning service. However I got a notice from the government saying that, since my employer no longer exists, they're taking over the pension! That's spooky.

Really Spooky. Hope it all works out for you in the Future.

Yeah, pensions do seem to be dinosaurs.

I wish more companies tried to invest in casinos like Jimmy Hoffa did, ha! They'd be fully funded, if Michigan casinos are any indication! Lol, lot's of pensioners give their money right back at the first of the month!
Ha! Look what happened in NJ when the government bet on a shiny new casino with tax and pension money. Christie-Backed Casino Goes Bust in NJ (breitbart.com)

I think this is likely the PBGC (Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation). Companies that offer defined benefit pensions have to pay an insurance premium to the PBGC. Then if they go bust the government takes over the pension. That’s my understanding anyway...

That is precisely who it is. I worked for a locally owned daily newspaper. I knew the pension administrator personally. It's odd that it's now a faceless bureaucracy.

In looking at that giant dish of Tabac that you're using, every single day until finished, I've thought of a lot of things I'd rather do than use Tabac for a couple years straight.

Here's a few:
A colonoscopy - yep at least it's only a couple days of discomfort if you include drinking the stuff beforehand. Tabac will give me uncomfortable shaves for years.

Watch High School Musical 3 - yeah, it's that bad but at least it's only a couple hours of torture.

Watch the entire Twilight series - Vampires shouldn't sparkle. What the hell is going on here.

Listen to my voice mail - I absolutely hate voice mail. I had an old boss that would leave me 45 minute long voice mails. I mean who does that, who can talk to themselves for 45 minutes? I know it was 45 minutes because it would beep after running out of time at 45 minutes and them the fool would call back and leave a second part two of his message. Usually what should have been a couple minute call he'd take an hour to ramble on about.

Go to the DMV - yeah I hate going to the DMV, even more than going to Walmart.

Marty, you're a better man than I am, I couldn't do it.

Priceless Post!

People that raise to the level of having a job where they have time to talk into an answering machine for FORTY FIVE MINUTES, AND THEN START AGAIN!!! are proof that there are exceptions to even "the Peter Principle!"

I had jobs where I had bosses I used to dream up torture chambers for. I have a feeling that he would be on my list. Wow.

I shaved on the 1st.
This last week or so has been a blur.
Mom and dad have been here since Christmas Day.
Dad is now 83 and mom will be 80 in four months.
They kept me up until 2:30 this morning watching Defending Jacob.
I think I have them talked into selling their home and moving here to a gated senior community.

My late 2024 guesstimate is looking better with every updated pic. I know the 6 soaps in my rotation will last at least 5 or more years based on my rate of consumption.
