What's new

Another imperfect Boker

After going 4 years without buying a single razor I've picked up 6 in 2 months. 2 Clauss, 2 Genco, and 2 Bokers.
The first 5 didn't need much to get 'em honed and back in action. Maybe a little #0000 steel wool or 2000 grit wet/dry paper to knock off any active rust, but I hadn't even unpinned any of those first 5. Then I found this Boker. If I had been able to see how pitted the edge was I probably would have avoided it. I didn't do a tremendous amount to remove the heavy pitting on the face of the blade, but the edge required A LOT of steel removal. It ended up all the way up into the engraving but left plenty to keep it legible and it's still a full 6/8. It was a smidge over 13/16" at the start. I sanded and polished up the plastic scales and pinned with stainless washers and brass brazing rod.

I shaved with it this morning and wow it was worth the effort. Fantastic shave, smooth as can be.
