Another Batch of Restores

Discussion in 'Brush Making and Restorations' started by jwcarlson, Jul 2, 2010.

Well, finished three up and bloomed them out this morning. Might polish handles might not, sometimes I like the character.

Here they are. Right to left: TGN 20mm extra hair Finest, TGN 24mm extra hair Finest, TGN 24mm extra hair silvertip (regular, not grade a).

  1. looks great!
    thanks for sharing

  2. Those are looking great. That green Simms is super. What are the other two?

  3. Is the green and white an Ever Ready? I have a red and white that looks similar that I bought to do try a restore on.

Edit: oops my mistake I need to look at the pictures better.

  4. The black one is an Opal and the black/orange one has no markings or evidence of markings.

  5. Those look great. I bought an old Erskine to try and restore. It was a sythetic brush, and when i went to drill out the knot i think i melted them together. I cant get the remaining bristles out. Pretty frustrating!

    Truly excellent restorations.

  7. That middle one is particularly gorgeous.

  8. I think so too, and I've used the green/white and the black/orange to shave already. They are both nice but I really think the black/orange with the finest knot is more what I'm looking for in a brush. Both made great lather and felt good on my face but there was something about the finest. :thumbup1:

  10. Once I cut one from the heard I will probably sell/trade the other two. So you may get a chance at it.
