What's new

And the straights ran away with the hones

[Rant]Okay, so I have been (im)patiently awaiting the delivery of my two new straights and my hones that I ordered from Jarrod and it has been hard. I am dying to have my first straight shave.

Well, it looks like I will have to wait even longer. :001_huh: I have been checking the EMS tracking site and keeping tabs on the box. It landed here in Oz 5 days ago and cleared customs the next day. Apparently the driver "attempted delivery" to my business address at 5:19am the next day and who knows what happened next but now they can't find my box :mad3:

Funny how it can get around the world in 4 days and then take more than 5 days to travel 20km from the airport to my work.:glare:

I rang them today and they said they can't find the parcel and will get back to me some time in the next 5 business days.... [/RANT]

Bummer, I hope you get them soon!

Wow... I've only had wonderful experiences with EMS shipments... inside the CONUS they get handed over to the post office who treat them as the highest priority. (they're considered registered and as such have all sorts of "special" rules... logging into/out of facilities, separate secure storage in a safe, etc)

I can watch the tracking clear customs in NY and then landing at the airfield about 20 miles from the house about 8 hours later... usually 45 minutes later the branch manager of the local post branch is on my front porch having driven the package over in his personal vehicle. He hand delivered a package on Christmas morning at about 1030AM two years ago. Great service for the 20-odd bucks I paid for shipment in the first place I'd say.

I certainly hope your package shows up soon. I'd wager it's sitting on the truck of the delivery guy who "attempted" delivery at 0519.

5:19am??

Who is collecting packages at that time? Bakers and dairy farmers? My BS detector is ringing. Good luck with it.

Mine is too. Yesterday they told me it was "flagged" as "incorrectly addressed". I double checked the address with Jarrod and it was in fact correctly addressed.

I rang them just now to inform them of this....

Me: The package in question was in fact correctly addressed.
Polite Lady: Okay, I will update your file.
Me: What does that mean?
Polite Lady: We are doing the best we can and someone will contact you.
Me: When can I expect a call?
Polite Lady: I don't know.
Me: Can you contact the driver or better still can I?
Polite Lady: No.
Me: Do you know where the package is?
Polite Lady: No.
Me: Thank you for your assistance so far, if you were me, when would you call back to chase this up?
Polite Lady: That is up to you.
Me: Can you understand my frustration with your text-book responses?
Polite Lady: Yes, but I cannot do or say anything to help you, I will update your file and we will continue our investigation and someone will contact you.
Me: Okay, so you don't know where my package is, there is no way of contacting the driver, you will continue your investigation and someone will contact me but you don't know when, have I missed anything?
Polite Lady: No you haven't, is there anything else I can do for you sir?
Me: No, you have already been more than helpful.
Polite Lady: Thank you, have a nice day

 I know she is just doing her job here and TBH I was smiling at the end of the call. I guess I will just ring back on Monday and go though it all again.

Things like this make my head asplode.

I would have said this: "If the package was "incorrectly addressed", how was it delivered to my address at 5:19?"

Man, I hope they show up soon. I can't believe that in this day and age they can't properly track it.

If it makes you feel any better, FedEx a couple months ago first damaged a package of mine (supposedly just the box, not the contents), then sent it back to where it was shipped from (i.e. the city a couple thousand miles away in which I no longer live) and in the process of shipping it back lost it. I'm still in the process of going through the claim with them, and the package never left the country. Sometimes parcel services are great. Other times they show grossly excessive levels of incompetence.

Doesn't really make me feel better knowing that my situation could get worse but thanks for trying.....
I hope your issue has a positive result and mine too! :001_smile

I know the feeling. I got a limited edition Japanese straight and a very nice kamisori shipped to me and the package just disappeared for two weeks. The sender contacted USPS and they had no record of the package. They eventually returned the kamisori to the sender, but the other razor magically disappeared.

You must be a nice guy to have had a smile on your face after that phone conversation. I have difficulty staying calm when talking to people who act like answering machines...

Best of luck with getting your package :)

This happened to me before and I finally got my package two months later and it looked like a great white shark ripped the box apart and then had someone at the Parcel department tape it back together. The items inside were thrashed but everything was there...

I think some delivery guys get too curious about what's in boxes.

This week I was sent two different packages as part of an Aussie Newbie PIF.

Both were marked "Dog in yard, hold at post office" with a phone number.

First one - card turns up in mailbox (no phone call) - parcel was held at post office though and was there when Mrs Westie went to collect it.
Second one - went out in the truck! - so card gets put in the letterbox (because of the dog), but when Mrs Westie arrives at Post Office "it's still in the delivery van".

It couldn't be picked up till the next day.

So the consistencey is "there is no consistency".
