An aftershave to complement Cella

I'm looking for ideas as to what aftershaves might go nicely with the Cella scent. Any ideas?

It would be nice to use something Italian, but all I have at the moment is Proraso. Something about that mixture doesn't smell quite right to me.

Wow, that's an interesting question.

My first response would be to ask why, since Cella's almond scent is Gone With The Rinse.

After thinking about it, it would be nice to have something that continues the vibe you get while shaving with Cella. Caswell-Massey and Col. Conk both do almond aftershaves.

How about Floid?

Well, I look at shaving as something of a culinary experience. I prefer to have an Italian shave from start to finish, or a German one, etc.

Floid looks like a winner, though I have yet to bite the bullet and buy the big bottle without firsthand knowledge of the scent. Any other good Italian (or other) aftershaves that might pair nicely with Cella?

Ive never tried it, but how bout PREP aftershave balm? since Razor&Brush is no longer in business it looks like Shoebox Shaveshop might have the best selection of the italian shave products.

The Italian Floid Genuine is certainly an excellent option. After using a top quality, classic, barbershop soap like Cella, you can follow up with a top notch, traditional, barbershop aftershave like Floid.

You know, Marco, after reading about your love of Cella, I actually wondered what you follow it with. Thanks for chiming in.

Hey there: I use Legno Marino con Minerali by Bottega Verde after my Cella shave most of the time (otherwise, sometimes Acca Kappa White Moss AS Emulsion). It's Italian and a great compliment post Cella shave:

It's called Legno Marino con Minerali (Marine Wood Aftershave Lotion with Minerals) by Bottega Verde. It's a cream and has no alcohol in it. Maybe Marco is familiar with this stuff. I also like their awesome shaving cream tubs. I bought it in a Bottega Verde shop in Rome somewhere for about $20 a year ago (Xmas 2010). I experimented around with other Italian aftershaves after shaving with Cella, and I think it's a better choice than either of the Floid aftershaves (imho…). However, it likely veers from a traditional standpoint. (I wonder what Marco would say…)

Here's a description of it as per BV's Italy website (kinda translated):
Characteristics: cream enriched with oil sweet almonds, oil jojoba, Dragocalm (R), Sepitonic (R)
Scent: Note of head: bergamot, Mandarin, orange, berries of cardamomo, black pepper. Note of body: lavender, nutmeg, rosemary, ozonato agreement. Note basic: wood of cedar, patchouli, white moss, amber

Here's a link but maybe one of the American or Canadian shave vendors keep it in stock:

It looks like it's on sale half off from Italy. Less than $9. US! With shipping it could come out to more than double though.

I too am wondering what Marco uses after his Cella shave… Anybody else have an opinion about this Bottega Verde aftershave lotion?

I know (but have never used) Spanish Floid but think it wouldn't go with the great Cella (I love it, did I mention it?). Italian Floid seems to be a better option, in the opinion of wiser members here, but I hope the scent is different from the Spanish one. How is it like BTW?

Personally I use EJ ASB Aloe Vera after my Cella shavings. It's not the perfect combo but it does the thing. I'll have to try the Italian Floid, I suppose.

I am searching for the same combination. Although most scents in shave creams and soaps due rinse away or diminish quickly, I like to stay with the scent theme if I can. I just like to enjoy the scent I started with through the day. People think I'm starnge if I come to work with lather on my face! :001_tt2: Does the Italian Floid have some almond in it?

Does the scent of Cella really linger for long enough after the shave for it to matter? I still have yet to try the stuff.

No, it doesn't linger at all after rinsing. Very nice stuff during the shave and leaves the skin nice. I really like the scent so I was hoping there was some aftershave or balm available that has a similar fragrance. Still looking.
