Can anyone recommend a readily available amber fragrance (besides Prada Amber pour Homme) that doesn't break the bank?

Depends on whether you want your Amber sweet or dry. Caswell Massey Tricorn is basically an amber-sandalwood duet and that's it. But it's on the sweet side of things.

Madini "Sahara" is a cheap, dry smoky amber. It's a roll-on oil though. All you need is a dab.

B&BW has a new Amber fragrance
Bought two 10ml samples of amber from Randy(Archerfire) 1. Ambre Precieux and 2. Cotswold Amber. I found both long lasting (especially on clothes) with the Cotswold a little bit more spicy and projecting. The Ambre has a deeper and richer scent between the two and ended up my favorite. Neither one requires very much application. A full bottle of the Cotswold can only be bought on site in England unfortunately. They do not ship due to the alcohol in the cologne. (I did email them but no dice)
MPG's Ambre Precieux is the truest amber I've tried. It's not the least expensive but a little goes a long way. A very comforting winter scent.
Just ordered some myself, and I have no idea what it truly smells like, but Col Conk makes an Amber aftershave/ cologne.
