Always wondered about the Badger part in "Badger & Blade" until today...

Decided to take look up some "quality" brushes, and finally put 2 and 2 together on why this site is called "Badger and Blade", I have seen Badger brushes being sold or mentioned but never got the connection until today. secretly always wondered what the hell has a badger have to do with shaving.

I feel enlightened.

I get it, sometimes those things just don't click. i remember my youngest daughter was watching a Kay Jewelers commercial with me and the tagline came on "Every kiss begins with Kays." She and I had seen these commercials hundreds of times, but this time she turns to me with fire in her eyes and says, "oh, I get it, every kiss begins with Kays. It's a pun!" It was hard not to laugh, but it just clicked for her then. It's like when I realized the Steely Dan song "Everyone's Gone To The Movies" was about watching porno.

true, but I read the book (Naked Lunch) and there's also "Black Friday" and "East St. Louis Toodle-oo" mentioned, so that wasn't the only thing they got from the book. I should go back and re-read it 30 years later and see if I pick up anything else.

I think that I got the badger part after the first visit to the site, but I was a bit incredules. IIRC I made the comment "Badgers.... Really!" in my first post. I had no idea until then that badger hair was considered a premium brush bristle for shaving, cosmetics, or artist brushes.

I alway thought it was named (Badger and Blade) simply because it sounds better than (Boar and Blade), (Horse and Blade) or Synthetic and Blade.
