Thinking about picking this one up. I've read the reviews on basenotes, but wondered of anyone here uses this one and has any comments? Also, should I get the splash or the refillable spray? Or both?

I love this scent, I prefer the spray. You can get a pretty huge bottle for about $40. Really nice bitter orange with cloves and lemon. Lavender, thyme, geranium......Just a beautiful light summer scent.

I've had this scent in the past. It is AMAZING. Fresh, citrus zest and Mediterranean herbs - I get a lot of thyme and rosemary from it. Maybe sage in there too.

I've had the splash only but I would be tempted to go for the spray. It's surprisingly long lasting on my skin, so I think the spray is probably better as you use less.

How does this compare to adp's scents?

Quite similar, being lemon-based citrus fragrance group.
The AdP is probably more tame, whereas the A. Gomez is probably more traditional, more herb notes in it and perhaps more longer lasting. Both are equally good in the summer. The A. Gomez has the more 'baber shop' vibe for me if that helps.

The notes in the descriptions are different and the price tags are different, the second one being more than the first. The packaging is different but the name is the same. Is the first an EDT and the second a "Concentrated EDC"?

Ben

Okay, here's the product description for the second one (Agua de Colonia Concentrada Barberia) from amazon:

Product Description

100 years after the creation of their well-known "Agua de Colonia Concentrada", the company Alvarez Gómez presents BARBERIA, a new range of products specific for men, in a concept that is perfectly balanced between classic and modern. This new range has been created in response to the growing trends in usage and loyalty to the traditional Alvarez Gómez fragrance among male consumers who are also demanding specific items to satisfy their daily needs in skin and hair care, expressly highlighting shaving and after-shave products.

So, I'm guessing this is just a different line similar to the concept of AdP Colleczione Barbiere vs. AdP Colonia?

Ben

Thanks, I used the translator and figured out most of it. It's pretty much what I figured, it's a men's shaving line and the fragrance is a bit different from the classic AdC Concentrada.

Has anyone tried it yet?

Ben

Yes, I have. I like it a lot, very nice, a "traditional but not granny-like" scent IMO. It has longer staying power than the ordinary one. It is a concentrated Agua de Colonia more "concentrated"... And SWMBO says it's more "manly":001_smile

Thanks. This is a similar impression I get from the AdP line when it comes to regular AdP Colonia and AdP Colonia Intensa. A little more woody and a little more masculine. Sounds interesting.... it's on my "to try" list.

The Barbería EdC is great. I've been a lifelong user of the Agua de Colonia Concentrada, but the Barberia (Barbershop) line is even better. It is basically the same classical scent, but wit a powerful woodsy note and a greater fixation......and there's a matching shaving cream.

You're very welcome, Ben.

Indeed. And the line includes a combing water, and an ASB (which I didn't like as it dried out my skin, YMMV)

Sadly, the gorgeous brush they feature in their ads is not available
