Alum block and friend's psoriasis

Hi

A friend of mine has psoriasis and in the past he didn't have trouble using alum block. After a break from using it he tried it again recently and apparently the psoriasis on his face flared up a bit.

He's had the alum block for many years. Is it possible for the alum block to change over time or could it be he is just getting more sensitive in his skin? Should I ask him what kind of alum block he has? I've read Witches Hazel is supposed to be good for psoriasis.

Thanks.

I think he should talk to a dermatologist.

+1, talking with the DR. is the way to go. However I don't believe that using the alum block will do any harm, and if it works great, so much the better. Well over a year ago I had an outbreak of a cold sore while traveling, and found that I had left my prescription at home. All I had was my alum block so I used it on the just developing cold sore. The alum worked to prevent the cold sore from forming. The block is antiseptic so it should help with your friends psoriasis. Its well worth a try. If it works it can save a whole lot of expense, time, and of course money. :thumbup1:

+1 on the Doc. They can give you creams that'll help him out.

I'm a regular with the alum and have psoriasis, when I get a flare up I have to put it (as well as all astringents) aside for a few weeks. When things calm down, I slowly reintroduce it.

To continue the formula from the title:
Antiseptic (alum bloc) + Tingle + Psoriasis = never ending itch = anxiety = perhaps even more psoriasis.

Sounds like a bad idea.

Ask a doctor.
