Alternative to Feather AC blades?

Due to the massive price hike in Feather AC blade prices, I find myself looking for alternatives. Has anyone tried any other blades out there as a replacement? I know Ted Pella has some injector blades, but I don't know the exact measurements of the Feather Blades to be able to compare the two.

Smallflower.com still has them for the old price. They have the Lights, Pros, and Pro-Guards in stock, and I think you can backorder the Super Pros for the old price.

Heheh, guess who bought the last of their Super Pro's? :blushing:

I'm stocking up while I can, but I'm interested in researching before I reach a critical point. I also don't know how long the old price will last at those two retailers.

I see they are at $24 for a 20 pack at ClassicShaving. That price is insane. :001_rolle:001_rolle

I don't think the Feather is worth using at that price point.

By the way, I tested out my Kai Captain (which is a Feather Artist Club clone) the other day with a standard Schick Injector blade. It worked out really well, but the blade is about a 1/2" shorter.

I was looking at these Ted Pella blades in particular:

They are 1/2" shorter, the other dimensions look close, but I'm not sure if it would work. Luckily it is not a bulk buy, so I will likely give them a try. I have also come across a custom blade maker, but that would entail a fairly hefty group buy to make it feasible at a decent price point.

Those are the standard Schick Injector blades, made by Personna, and PTFE coated. Should be identical to the same Injector blades that were offered in the group buy recently.

The blade thickness is the same as that of the Feather Light, and Feather Pro blades. In comparison they seem to be about a half inch shorter. What I can't determine is how the blade exposure would compare to a Feather blade.

I don't have enough experience with the Feather Artist Club/ Kai Captain to know just how much difference in shave quality that 1/2" would make.

Since the thickness of the blade, and the width appear similar, the blade holder seems to hold the Injector blade just as well as the actual Feather blades.

Just to let everyone know, as soon as I saw they were out of stock I sent in an order. They told me it would be about 2 or 3 weeks until shipment, but today UPS came by with my order of 5 packs of the super pro's. Same old price too, $10.99. :thumbup1:

Looks like Smallflower is the new place to get your Feather blades, shame on Classic Shaving, I've always like dealing with them, but no more at their new prices. :thumbdown
