Als shaving cream vs Synergy shaving soap

After looking through my options when it comes to artisan soap (the only thing i'll trust on my sensitive skin), I've come down to Als shaving cream and Synergy shaving soap. I've already ordered Als 7-cream sampler so I can find out what scents are my favorite (first time buying a wet shaving kit), but I was wondering if someone who has tried both can give me some insight into the qualities/differences of each. Thanks in advance for the help.

I haven't tried either yet but I'm interested in hearing the opinions. These are the top two on my most wanted list (although I already have a puck of Synergy in transit).

I've used them both and IMO,Al's creams are far superior in both scent and overall performance.Well worth the price.Al is a pleasure to do business with by the way.

You can't find a better shave cream than Al's. His creams literally explode into a wonderful, rich lather, and I've yet to read of anyone with a sensitive skin problem. He does offer two soaps now, one that is predomanantly floral in scent, and a fougère.

I just received a custom blend from AL. It's Grapefruit/orange with menthol, and it's amazing! He did an awesome job, and it only took 2 days from when I ordered to receive it.

Man, i'm even more excited for this 7-pack now...

How do artisan soaps (like Al's) compare to Hydrolast products? They look like good quality stuff, but they're a little too expensive and involved for my liking.

also with Al's you only need a very little of cream, less then a pea size and certainly not an almond. about a third of what you would use with most other creams gives plenty of rich lather. very good stuff. perhaps the best.

I dip the tips of my brush in the jar and then get to lathering. But I always find I have used too much. I end up with enough left for at least 2 more passes. If used properly, yes, one can use much less. And again, every Al's product I've used was an excellent performer.

I think the comparison of Synergy to the Creams is not particularly apt, since, well, one is a cream and one is a soap. That said, Al has a soap too (Sapone da Barba), although it is such a soft croap that it is pactically cream like in consistency. I have both scents (dislike the private reserve, really like Fougere about it) and think it is a tip top performer, but pretty expensive. I haven't tried Synergy yet, but it is really well regarded, and a good value. It is very close to Petal Pusher Fancies in ingredients (I think there may be some connection between the two), and PPF is another of my favorite soaps. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.
