Almost got some William's

While I was in the grocery store today stocking up on the last remaining glass bottles of Aqua Velva, I noticed the little packages of William's soap. I paused, smelled the soap, read the box, and even went so far as to open it up and take a look at it. I liked the smell, but for some reason I just wasn't feeling like spending that extra dollar-fifty. Perhaps some day.

I wish to had your luck. Sometimes i want to have local stores near to me, with Williams mug soap. For me is little hard to take pucks of Williams, until i live in Bulgaria. So, you americans are lucky guys, and every man in USA must to try this wonderful soap :thumbup1:

I have a puck of Williams and Colgate in my 'den' but I'm not too big on them. Maybe I just don't use them properly... And take the lather directly from the puck instead of transferring it over to another bowl.

Anyone a fan of Colgate? I found it in the cup of my shave stand and couldn't bring myself to throw it away.

I think it worth a try, specially for the price!

I have heard it has a story similar to Wiliams: multiple re-formulations each one leading to a slightly less useful product.

While the 1970's era, and before product is likely a stellar tallow soap, the most recent formulation prior to it's discontinuation, according to reviews, was nearly useless.

Oh the hate!!! I've used Williams for 25 yrs. and velly happy with it. For me change is bad and that said have a bar of Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap coming in the mail just to see what's "over there" in that green pasture ;) wink.

I picked it up in the store one day and looked it over, sniffed it, etc., too. I put it back on the shelf because I think it stinks. YMMV.

I love Colgate! That was the first soap I used (and continued to use as long as it was available) when I started wetshaving in the early 1990's (with an Atra--moved to DE in 2008). I would love to be able to find it again.

To me the value of Williams is a myth. I have to use so much product to get a sustainable lather, a puck runs down quickly. I'll probably never use the stash I have, too many other soaps around I actually like.

Any shaver with easy access to Palmolive sticks need not be disappointed in lack of Williams.

That's sort of how I feel. I've got so many terrific soaps, why bother with one which is generally considered pretty lousy?

You'll be moving your Williams to the shower stall I think.

Thanks. I'll be honest, but could go with a fight ;) Fragrances bother me and Williams mild manners is a big plus. I get along well with lanolin. No sheep jokes ok? I used to live in Wyoming it could get ugly.

If you like mild scent you might as well throw out the Williams now cause MWF smells fantastic, light, and clean.

OK, so the same day I posted this I went ahead and bought a puck of it in the evening when I stopped at a CVS. I'll give it a try tomorrow. It doesn't smell all that bad to me now.:blushing:
