All the Panna Hype - Not Impressed Yet - Help!

Ok, so all I heard across the boards was that this croap exploded with lather. So I picked up a tub on the BST. Don't get me wrong, I love the scent of the Lavandotto. I just cannot get the croap to burst with lather. I tried a Semogue 610 boar and a custom Silvertip. I usually only have enough lather for a pass or two. I even loaded for a long time. I actually have soft water so that isn't the issue. I am becoming unimpressed with this product. Save me, Gents! What am I doing wrong?

I've never had a problem with it. I'd recommend more water and more product. The more the better. I hope it works out for you; it really is nice stuff.

strange, that soap is amazing. I have had 4 types and all are exceptional. I dip the brush squeeze and shake and it builds immediately. Try squeezing your brush and see if it is hogging the lather. I have seen some soaps have a film to start and the lather changes on the next shave. Keep at it is all I can say.

What? A soap with an almost cult-like following doesn't perform as expected? Why, that's never happened before!

I just went through the same thing with the much-beloved MWF. Didn't work for me either.

You'll get lots of great suggestions from the aficionados of any particular brand. Members here really want to help each other. Follow their suggestions and try your best. In the end, don't take it personally if the soap doesn't work for you. No soap is great for everybody. There are all sorts of external factors, from the hardness of your water to your choice of brush to the alignment of the stars, that seem to affect the ability to lather a soap. If it gets too frustrating or you're just not happy with the results, move on to another soap.

I can't get PC to load with my usual method; I have to follow Marco's method and use a sopping wet brush. I find dense brushes don't fair well with this soap; my vie-long horse hair does well; but it has to be sopping wet but I get more lather than I need.

Thanks for the advice, Men. I will stay positive and keep at it. The lack of lather is irking my me and my shave.

Actually used Panna vetiver first time today.
Totally decent soap, nice lather and glide.
reminded me of a mellower MDC.
Scent faded a bit, only complaint.

PannaCrema is very "meh" in my opinion.

Decent soap, but not leaps and bounds better than others I have in my rotation. Scent was a total catastrophe though - smelled like moldy dirt. Packaging was disappointing; when virtually every customer receives a tub with a broken lid, either change your packaging or shipping method.

No idea why it isn't lathering for you, that is the one area I found PC to be decent.

Another PC lover here, I also wished he would have chosen a larger diameter container. I do like the fact that they come with the plastic insert that helps keep the soap fresh. I have not had problem with the soap/croap. I use something like the marco method as well. Its great stuff IMO

Hahahaha! I saw Professor Dan Ariely at a conference in the spring - he's the author of this great book ...

Some day I'm going to suggest he come do some sort of experiment around here. One could do a doctoral dissertion about this place!

I picked up a sample, but haven't had the chance to use it. i'm kind of disappointed that it doesn't smell stronger, but the proof is in the shaving. Given how hard it seems to be to get (I've never actually seen it in stock), it would really need to blow me away for me to bother ordering it.

I had a problem loading from the small tubs so transferred the soap to a 1 cup pyrex bowl. This has made loading so much easier and I can easily load enough soap for 3+ passes in about 30 seconds using a boar or badger brush.

Because of the small bowl it comes in, I use smaller brushes to load it. For me this soap seems to do better when bowl lathered. I find that it takes a while to whip it up to the right consistency and I find I am adding more water than many other soaps. I can get more lather from Cella and other some other soaps. However, the lather I get from PC is slick and gives me an excellent shave.

I used a small brush, but it lathered up almost instantly. And I have hard water. No clue what the problem could be, since it was probably the easiest lather I've had!
