I bought this badger brush a long time ago on Aliexpress, but to this day I don't know if it's a good brush or not. I'm still new to classic shaving.

The other guys here in this shaving forum will beat me to death but I dare to tell that you can get a very decent lather of absolutely ANY shaving brush.

Looks like pure badger. Many members think pure grade is too prickly but I have a few and enjoy using them. Scritch OK.

Even though it's not an expensive brush, it's soft and rarely sheds a hair. Then I'll buy a synthetic because I think it's more practical.

I had this brush early days (10 years ago) in fact a few of them as they were sold as a lot. Terrible floppy brush and the glue used to come out of the knot and get stuck and lump up the hair.
Aliexpress has some fantastic brushes from Yaqi, Dcosmetic among others.

This one of mine hasn't dropped any wires so far. In fact, after getting wet, it gets a little soft or I don't know how to use it.

Yaqi sells some brushes cheaper as "defectives" but to be honest I bought some and could not find the defect at all.
If you go to their section of brushes in Aliexpress and order the items by cheaper, the "defectives" will appear.
Quite interesting price.

Looks like the hairs are cut, several have cut, straight ends visible, badger hair is normally tapered to a fine tip; might be one scritchy thing...

You want a 2band 24-26mm (Finest) badger for a really nice feeling over all from scrub to lather painting on the face for a great face feel.
For a excellent lather painter and gentle scrubber with a luxury face feel a 3 band 24mm(Silvertip) will deliver those usually hands down and you do not necessarily have spend a lot of money to find them IMO.

I ordered that one about 1 week ago because it is like eye candy to me and it's in the mail at this moment. I keep saying I don't need another brush and I took one of my older brushes of rotation to make room for it. I believe this 24mm is a "chubby" 26mm, as I have a Yaqi Mojito 24mm Dual Band which is actually 28.5mm.

They drill a clearance hole in the handle for a 24mm knot, what happens when cleaned up and dried out by new owner it just blooms larger because they pack the hair well in for a high density knot(AKA-HD) from what I understand.
I'm not a badger knot specialist I just go by how the face feel is when used. At first I was not sure about the larger bloom knots some of my Silvertips give(not all Silvertips bloom very large in Diameter)but once used a few times I can get into the smallest area to apply lather with not getting lather all over the place
.Some folks think the silvertip is more on the floppy side but I do not find this, they just are the best face feeling brush for badger mostly and can be softer then some synthetic brush knots but still have some backbone for a nice gentle scrub and what more does a fellow want out of a brush IMO. I still like my synthetic brushes and boar brushes because they offer a different face feel and I just like variety I have discovered years ago (spoiled shaver).
