Alcohol in aftershave

Alcohol does dry your skin, as does shaving soap/cream (even with enough glycerine) and shaving itself (by taking off a little more than just the dead layer of skin). So yes it dries a bit but more importantly it protects your skin after you made a zillion microcuts where germs can attack your system. IMO alcohol based splashes are one of the friendliest ways to protect your skin from that after shaving and when it dries too much nobody will stop you from finishing with a moisturizing balm after the splash, which is exactly what I do in winter when my skin dries so much easier.
