Aftershave up the nose

Would just like to issue a friendly warning to everyone out there... be careful with your plastic aftershave bottles.

I purchased a bottle of Pinaud Clubman yesterday evening before the start of Gentlemanly Restraint Until Christmas. I came home and put it in the shave den, where it was forgotten about until this evening. I opened the seal and tried to take a whiff of it. I accidentally squeezed the bottle and it squirted directly up my nose. What followed were approximately 20-30 seconds of the most intense and blinding pain that I've ever experienced in my life.

The pain quickly subsided, and I was standing there with tears rolling down my cheeks wondering what the heck just happened. It took me a few seconds to come back to reality, but once I did, I quickly grabbed my neti pot and flushed out both nostrils.

That was two hours ago and I can still smell Pinaud Clubman after taking a shower and changing into clean clothes. I wouldn't be surprised if I could still smell it for a few days.

So, a warning to all of you, use caution when sniffing your aftershaves. I barely squeezed the bottle, and it was just a tiny squirt, but it hurt enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Yikes! Not a good thing for eyes either I would imagine. I "sniff" all the time. Good reminder to "dab" instead.

I was reminded of high school chemistry class, where we were taught to waft and not sniff. I guess I learned my lesson.

If it's any consolation, I am happy to reveal I once did the same to an ouzo...which was alight at the time.

I singed my nostril hairs out of existence and the lining of my nose became a double-barrelled weeper for about 3 days.

And I don't even like ouzo.

I do, that's why I use distilled water with it.

I had a similar mishap a few mornings ago. I got a little over zealous while splashing on Dominica Bay Rum and got some in my eye. I screamed (like a man).

You are certainly not alone my friend. I did that a few months ago. It grounded me and i became extremely confused on what was going on. But mine was with aqua velva. So pretty much dont squeeze your bottles, gentlemen. Only tip I can give
