Aftershave suggestion?

Guys, I love my Pinaud Clubman but my lady thinks it's a little strong & smells, as she says, "like an old man" (I'm no spring chicken, either). I like the Pinaud Bay Rum, too, but ditto--she didn't like it. Picked up some new Gillette, I think, a/s splash that she does like, but eh, it's ok. I prefer the old time barber shop smell of my Pinauds.

So here's the question: Anyone know of a product that might hit the middle ground?

Cut the Clubman with some witchhazel or just ditute it in your palm with some water.

You could also try an Atomizer.

Clubman smells strong on me, as well. I apply it to a wet face with wet hands and go easy on the amount I use. This way the strength is cut, as well as the longevity, but it's the only way Clubman smells good on me.

Try applying Clubman this way and see if your lady approves.

+1 to Skin Bracer. I'm 25 and my girlfriend loves it! You may also try Musgo Real splash. It's quite a bit more expensive, but someone on the forum may be willing to decant you a sample to try out. On the cheaper side of things, I like Master's Topaz, mainly because it's what my barber used when I was growing up. You can find a large bottle online or at beauty/barber supply stores for around $6-$7.

Booster's Polar Ice. Barber shoppy but IMHO not as dated.. Try the Boosters Mosswood too. Very woodsy/outdoorsy..

Aqua Velva is nice, both Ice Blue and Musk.

How about the barbershop scents from Italy, such as Floid and Proraso?

Speick is certainly one you'll both enjoy.

German Pitralon is utterly wonderful.

and lastly, pick up Alt-Innsbruck for as a decidedly special treat for the both of you!

SWMBO said "You smell like a wino trying to cover up the booze" when I wore a healthy dose of Clubman. Besides some of the higher priced products, she has not objected to the new Walgreens Brisk I picked up for $3.50. I also have diluted the Clubman as described above. The one I use most often is the Proraso AS splash.
