Aftershave Confusion

Men - I just left Merz a little while ago and left confused about aftershave. I am currently using TOBS Jermyn street sensitive skin shaving cream, which i like a lot. I wanted to get the matching aftershave, but there were three types. Aftershave in a tube, balm in a tube, and aftershave in the spray glass bottle. I know balms are more for cold weather, and oils are for warmer weather, but what is the difference between the aftershave in the tube and the balm in the tube?

Not sure as I've never used that brand. But balms usually have ingredients that are helpful for the skin, and are more soothing and healing.

TOBS Jermyn St. aftershave comes in only two varieties: an aftershave cream/balm in a tube and an alcohol free aftershave lotion in a spray bottle. An aftershave lotion is the same thing as a splash..... whereas an aftershave balm, milk or cream is just what it says..... more like what you would think of as a hand lotion/moisturizer consistency. It's a bit screwy.... but a lotion is a liquid splash in the aftershave world. TOBS Jermyn St. Aftershave Lotion in the spray bottle is a little different than most aftershave lotions in that it does not contain alcohol.... which most lotions/splashes do.... but it is still a liquid. The TOBS Aftershave cream also does not contain alcohol which is typical for most balms, milks and creams. In general, most aftershave lotions/splashes kills the germs on nicks and cuts and provide astringent properties to the skin, where most balms, creams and milks provide more relief from irritation and razor burn.

TOBS confuses me as well. Their aftershave tubes are marked all kinds of different things: Lotion, balm, cream, gel....

I have never used them, so I cant say if they are all the same. Since you saw them at a B&M, my best advice is to go back and open them up and see what it is inside.
