After-Market Metal Handles for Gillette Sensor.Where to Buy?

Amazon and Ebay both feature nice, heavy-duty, metal after-market handles for the Trac II and Atra razors. Me like!!!

Can't seem to find similar non-Gillette handles for the Sensor, a razor I also much enjoy using. Replacement cartridges for both razors are
still available.

Right now I'm using a Trac II handle with a Merkur plastic adapter from Em's place which allows the handle to accept Sensor cartridges....acceptable,
certainly, but I'd prefer to get me a nice Sensor-accepting metal razor!

Anyone here able to give me an on-line source for one?? Thanks for any help you can provide

I still use my Sensor from time to time, and if there was one, I'd want one myself. The only thing out there when I was looking last winter amounts to a downgrade in handle quality (cheaper, lighter weight plastic) according to what a couple of other members reported here.

Umm, ok - but I have one and they are Sensor compatible handles.

Not Atra.

Other people have them too and they are Sensor all the way.

They come with Burma Shave branded blades but even the pack of carts says they are compatible with Sensors.

Good luck with the Merkur one if you go down that road. To make it work with a Sensor it needs a plastic adapter. That might last a few carts for you, then you have a $$$ Atra handle.

The Burma is a Sensor clone with a plastic head and brass type handle.

Are you looking for an actual metal handle? Or a nice handle?

Em's place sells a couple of nice Sensor handles - faux ivory and cedar wood.

If you want a true metal handle and want to spend the bucks (€120.00), you can go for a Pils Sensor handle.

Shavemac also sells nice handles for Sensor cartridges.

I have one like this and it's very nice - heavy and feels good in the hand.

Hey guys, thanks for some really great leads here!! don't know how many times i've browsed the Em's catalog AND HAVE MANAGED TO MISS the several very nice Sensor compatible handles listed there. The Burma Shave job looks worth exploring too.
The Pils is VERY handsome but it may be out of my price range, damnit!
Many thanks for all the helpful input! For the first time, I am optimistic I'll find something really great, possibly even better than I first imagined!

Don't discount the Shavemac option - I can attest that that particular model is quite nice. A substantial feeling razor handle.

The dollar shave club handle for their low tiered razor will fit excel blades I believe. Not a super heavy handle or anything, but has a nice look and feel to it.

I'd surely like to explore the shavemac option but in navigating the website i can find razor handles only under the custom shave set option. And then it shows only handles with a twin cartridge blade (or 3 blade or 5 blade options)...no way to determine if that 2 bladed option handle actually accomodates a Sensor cartridge versus
Trac II or Atra cartridges.
What am I missing here??

You're right that it's under the "custom made" option of his website. I ordered a 2 bladed option and it came with a Sensor head (and even a Sensor cartridge installed on it). You can email Shavemac to confirm it's a Sensor-compatible head - they're pretty good at communication.

Thanks![/QUOTE]

Annoyingly the handle is slightly thicker so it wont fit in the originals cradle

If you will settle for a good plastic handle because you just want to use twin blades, the Gillette custom 3 will take a sensor cart (the handle is almost identical to a sensor 2 plus), or for something more substantial the Sensor 3 disposable will take all sensor carts. can't understand why Gillette bagged the sensor. At $2.40 a cart here at Walmart is seems they overlooked the cash cow potential.

Em's Place has custom handles for Gillette Sensor Razors.

The aftermarket versions are quite poor. The best versions are the limited editions in Platinum, Gold, Silver, Titanium Ion. There may have been a Rhodium version?

Thanks to lots of good advice in this modern shaving forum I just got some Sensor 3 disposables and found that they fit the Personna Tri-Flexxx handle (available in Boots and Wilko here in UK).
The metal and rubber Tri-Flexxx handle is pretty weighty and really very nice indeed:

Tri-Flexxx handle £2.00 from Wilko,
4x Sensor 3 Sensitive disposables £2.49 from Savers.
Job done!
