Advice reqd by a newbie

The TTO Aristocrat is a wonderful shaver. You will be pleased with its performance . . . and she's pretty, too!! :thumbup1:

Welcome to B&B . . . hope you continue to enjoy your wet-shaving journey!

Welcome to B&B! IMO a razor is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You got what you wanted for what you were willing to spend, that is all that matters.

I think I have around a dozen of these (will need to thin the herd at some point), and I like them very much. It's a great shaver. I think you'll be pleased. Please do shave with it.

Your intuition about maybe paying a teensy bit too much is correct, but only insofar as the condition is concerned, and as condition goes, the razor looks to be very good. The case has seen better days, obviously, but the condition issues seem to be largely confined to the bottom, where it was likely left on a damp surface from time to time. Bear in mind that you do have a complete set, and everything matches. The wear on both the razor and the case are consistent with how it would look if someone used the set over a long period of time.

Late 40s aristocrats (complete sets, cased) do sell at the price you paid, so you didn't do too badly, on the whole. I have paid as much for a cased set with the brown liner, fwiw. As others have pointed out, value is what you see in it.

Once you give it a gentle cleaning (toothbrush and soapy water to start with), it'll look even better, too. Enjoy it.

Hope it helps,
-- Chet

Thanks for the replies guys. Chet your dissection of the purchase is really useful. I am a newbie and don't collect items. I love to use my items(rangefinder cameras, watches, fountain pens and now razors). So the box isn't an issue for me. But it's good to know that all the bits add up. Now hopefully this will come early next week. I hAve bought a 100s pack of Astra Superior Platinum from the marketplace here. Will keep you guys posted on how the wet DE shave goes.

Chet love the B&R. My instrument of choice this week is the Speedy Hesalite/ Sapphire sandwich. :)

I'm new to THIS forum myself, and I would pay around that price for that Aristocrat. It's a beaut.
