Advice on some hold

Hello all-

Embarking on a new hairstyle and look for the first time in 20-ish years and find myself curious about hair products. I’ve long had a side part that is rather natural, requiring no product.

As I grow the top longer, I’d like it to be a touch “messy” but not so messy.

To the point, I think something like mousse (do they still make mousse) would make more sense for a no shine, not super hard hold.

Any thoughts or insights?

When I have used product in the past, it’s been mostly pomade or styling clay.
