Advice on Lord upgrade

Hi guys although I have just registered on this site I spent many hours researching the forums here. About 7-8 months ago from researching here I decided to go for a Lord safety razor as it was said to be forgiving for a beginner and is certainly cheap enough. I can't remember the model number but it's a three piece with a plastic handle.

I have been very happy with the cheap Lord razor however now I would like to upgrade to something with a similar geometry(perhaps a little more aggressive but only a little) and much better build quality. I would like a razor that will last a lifetime if such a thing exist. Price is not an issue I'll pay whatever I have too.

So basically I'm looking for -

Same geometry/shave as a Lord perhaps a slight bit more aggressive.
3 Piece all metal construction
Superb machining/build quality

Could anyone recommend such a razor?

Karl-

I'd recommend a Gillette NEW. You should be able to find a nice on on the BST board here for about $25 or so. Excellent shaver.

I started with a late 40's Gillette SuperSpeed, then got a late 30's Tech, then a mid 30's NEW, and then a Muhle R89. Of them all, I go back and forth between the NEW and Muhle, with the Tech close behind. The SS with its higher profile head makes it harder to get a good shave under my nose.

A solid razor that always gives me a BBS is an Edwin Jagger 89. You really cannot go wrong. If you are on a tight budget, then I would recommend the Shave a Buck deal from the IntalianBarber. The head is very similar to the EJ89 + you get a nicer handle + you get a travel case + you get 100 Lord SS blades.

My .02...a fat handle Tech...it ended my search for a DE that worked for me. Seems many others would say the same. Mild but effective. Every few days there seems to be one available in good condition in the B/S/T/ forum at excellent prices.
