advice.hero ink fill

I'm having enough trouble with filling my hero 616..
the breather tube on this one is pretty long almost to the end of the sac and i just can't seem to get more than a few drops..it lasts me long enough where its not a huge issue...but was wondering
I pulled the breather tube out completely from within the sac and now its hanging loose..helps with filling but not sure if its a good idea.
has anyone tried to mod these with any success?

catridge conversion tips ?

Are you depressing the bar more than one time? I usually give it at least three presses. More importanly, after the final press leave the pen in the ink for a 10-count. This gives the sack enough time to properly fill.

I don't even press the bar. I take the bar off and just have the sac exposed. I submerge the nib completely and just press the sac a few times til it fill with ink. Not the most elegant solution but it works.

this..i take the bar off completely as well..
is it normal for the breather to be almos as long as the sac? it just would not suck in any ink..I then took the breather off and now its hanging loose in the sac..got some ink in..
at my rate of usage and the rotation of pens i have ..that lasts me a good week..but a few drops is the most I can suck in..

and since it seems to working just fine with out the breather tube..i was wondering how it would work with the sac cut off and a catridge jammed in around the remaining sac.

i don't want to mangle it just yet though...

Go ahead and mangle, it's a cheap enough pen anyways. They all take some coaxing/hacking to work right anyways, that's what you get for a cheap Chinese knock-off. If you can't get it to work/too frustrated to care about it anymore, take it as a sign from the NIB gods to get a better pen! :biggrin1:
