Beckett Simonon uses good calfskin but there are some imperfections/scarring which actually in this case is a benefit as the little imperfections hold more color and adds depth.
I did not process that those were Beckett Simonon's. I am giving them quite a bit of business these days. My 28 yo business school student son seems to like them a lot, too. FWIW, BS seems to have a good grasp on what styles young men are looking for a business context, which has nothing to do with me, of course. But I think BS does a good job all around.
