I recently got into some poison ivy and will probably have at least a weeks growth by the time my face heals enough to shave. If you use an adjustable do you use a higher setting for more growth on the first pass?

I am not by any means an expert on this topic, but i would think that you may want to stick with your normal routine, you just may have to add an extra pass. But like i said by no means an expert

No, what I do is take it to the shower. SOAK the face, apply lather, let it sit longer than usual, and shave small parts at a time with a NEW blade. I once shaved after a week of facial hair growth; ended up throwing out the blade after that one.

my advise woild be to stretch the skin like you were using a straight razor, and yeah a high setting.

When adjustable razors were first marketed it was advised to use a higher number for multiple day's growth then dial it back after most of the "fur" was removed for a close shave.

If your have started a "beard" by the time you shave again you may want to use electric clippers to shorten it before you put a razor to it.
