Adding menthol to creams

I just had a question about adding menthol to a cream, say KMF mint to make it super cooling. Will it be a blast of cooling, lasting for a few minutes and that's it? Or will the cooling sensation last for say 1 hour? How do you make the cooling sensation last longer with just the cream/menthol? (not putting on aftershave etc). Is it possible? Just more menthol drops? (weither it be m bomb or Mama bear stuff).

Speaking of M Bomb and mama bear, which do you guys prefer? Any difference?

And how much are you adding that pinch to? Like a pinch everytime you shave? I was thinking of just dropping it into the neck of a pump bottle of kmf and mixing so that it's all ready to go.

What I did was to dissolve some menthol crystals, bout 4-5, in alcohol and add glycerin once dissolved. I put this mix into a small pump bottle so I can add 1 or 2 squirts into my bowl to mentholize any cream or soap. Works like a charm. Menthol crystals don't dissolve in glycerin, hence the alcohol.

M Bomb is excellent. Haven't tried Mama Bear, but if it is like the rest of her products, I am certain it is top notch too.

I use menthol crystals to "kick up" the cooling sensation of my mentholated creams. Crystals can be purchased on ebay for $12/4 ounces. I would say at least a ten year supply! Much more cost effective than buying predissolved menthol. I dissolve them at 1 teaspoon per ounce in almond oil or apricot kernel oil. You can also use olive oil. I add 5 drops to my bowl when lathering. You can add more but I find that my eyes start to water if I add more. Provides a nice additional chill to Prorasso or KMF Mint. I find the cooling effect lasts for 20-30 minutes. In the dead of summer I add a few drops in my cupped hand with witch witch hazel as an after shave splash. Quite chilling and longer lasting.

I find one pinch added to the container will have a medium cooling affect. The stuff is powerful. Try that and if it's not enough, add another!
