Acqua di Parma vs. Tabac

I have been face lathering with Tabac for a few months (using a boar brush). I found it very creamy and cushioning but not especially slick.

I managed to get my hands on some AdP recently and noticed that it had lost its creamy texture in my sample pot and had gone a bit hard. So I mashed into a bowl and have been bowl lathering with it using the standard B&B technique for soaps (and a super badger brush).

It is very very different to Tabac. It feels like a much more elegant / subtle (temperamental?) soap. It seems to whip up into a very fine cream. However, it does not seem to provide anything like the cushion I get from Tabac. The lather certainly looks good - shiny peaks - but just not as thick as Tabac. The result is that I have had to take more care when shaving with it. The shave is just as good as with Tabac and I enjoy it a lot, its just that its takes a lot more care. Is this what I should expect? Does AdP command attention and respect whilst Tabac is more of a 'blunt' solution??

Both are considered very good products. AdP cream is considered top tier while Tabac is a wonderful performer at a great price point.

I have found that Tabac provides more cushion than most of my other products but I cannot speak to AdP cream as I haven't tried it yet.

Tabac shaving cream doesn't seem to be very popular around here. The soap, on the other hand, is one of the most popular around here.

AdP is a great cream, if you like the scent. I hate the way it smells and am considering selling it.
