Acqua di Parma Tub/Tube

Yes - the tube is a softer cream (Proraso consistency), and the tub is more of a hard cream/soft soap.
That said, and even though I prefer soft creams, something about the hard cream is more appealing. Maybe a subtle difference in scent; not exactly sure.
But I highly recommend either of them.

I picked up the tub. First shave was great and it lathered wonderfully. I'm a couple of hours in now and my face feels excellent.

Ditto on the nice feeling you get.

Its great stuff...I picked up a tub a couple weeks ago on sale - 20% off!! Should have bought 2!

Dang! Where did you get the 20% discount? Have barely made a dent in mine but at that discount, it would be worth stocking up!

Sephora was having their friends and family sale a couple weeks ago, 20% off and free shipping for totals over $50. I bought a tub of AdP shave cream for myself and a bottle of AdP Iris Noble lotion for the wife.

Bumping this one for more opinions of AdP. It gets a great deal of praise around here but I just can't get past the scent. I got a sample recently from Thunderball and it performs fantastically but the scent just doesn't do it for me.

It provides a great shave but if you cannot get passed the scent, there's reason for you to waste your money. You'll have a more pleasing shave if you find a good performer in a scent that you prefer.

I've finally gotten around to my AdP sample that I got from Handy several months ago. I'm getting really good shaves from the stuff, but the scent is a bit off-putting--it almost smells ashen. The only other thing I have that smells similar to it is my P160, there is a similar ashen note underneath the almond scent. I'm wondering if my sample has lost some of its scent. I'll use up the rest of the sample, but I won't likely purchase any unless I can get it at a ridiculous discount.

Weird...one of those may be bad!! I shave with both AdP and P.160 on a regular basis and to me, they smell completely different. P.160 smells like an almond cherry candy and AdP smells like a powdery version of the EdT Colonia.

My P.160 does smell predominantly like maraschino cherries, but there is a detectable undertone that I can only describe as ash. My AdP does have a different scent when I smell it directly, but it mostly vanishes when I lather it, leaving only that ashen scent. I wish I could come up with a better word for it than "ash." :001_rolle

No worries...unfortunately, I have no idea what ash smell like and my sense of smell is not very keen.

Is there a difference between the Acqua di Parma Tub vs. Tube? Thanks

As the 1st reply indicated the tube variety is softer (read that as having more water content) than the tub. Of all the creams which I have tried in both packagings (tube vs. tub), the tube is always wetter. I believe that this allows for ease of squeezing the tube and dispensing the product. A hardened cream in a tub is no problem to access, but a dried out product in a tube can be a put-off for the consumer.

I picked up a tub of AdP while I was in Italy last Spring...it was priced decently, even considering the flagging $, but not a bargain by any means. For me, the consistency of the lather and its uncanny ability to wet/soften the beard, and then not dry out the skin is what makes this a superior product. I do wish it had an alternate scent, though. I am not a big fan, but will continue to use because of its performance. The only products that I have tried that match AdP performance-wise are Castle Forbes, lime and Penhaligon's, BB......just my $0.02, of course...YMMV.
