Absolute best after shave or product to eliminate post shave burn or redness?

As the title states....Im looking for something that will zap the red and make my skin look smooth and toned....suggestions? thank you amigos

Unfortunately, I don't think such a product exists. If you are getting redness and razorburn, you need to work on your technique. Basically, avoid getting razorburn in the first place.

well with me its inevitable that im gonna get some redness...i find witch hazel works ok..so i guess i should clarify and ask is there something that is better than witch hazel...like a witch hazel on roids?

Alum block is great. Also, Thayer's Medicated Witch Hazel is excellent for redness and works immediately on my face. My kids also like it when they take a spill on the sidewalk or fall into my neighbors rose bushes.

If we are talking about a mishap and you have razor burn or sun/wind burn.
Cornhuskers lotion is fantastic.

I still think you need to work on your technique. Anyway, if it is really bad, you may want to try the same type of cream that is used for sunburn and see how that works.

Thayer's Medicated Superhazel has a nice cooling effect, but I don't really find that it works that much better than regular Thayers. I'll still take the non-alcohol Thayer's over it most of the time.

I agree here. I don't like the smell very much....remind me of vicks vapor rub....but if I feel a little singe on the neck I give it a go and that with witch hazel helps.

the best aftershave is a good preshave (to avoid the burn in the first place).

speick is pretty good, though!

There's no one perfect balm or lotion, you're just going to have to try a bunch until you find one that works well with your skin.

Personally, it was the L'Oreal soothing post-shave balm that did the trick for me. Instant relief, lasted about 2 hours before I had to re-apply.

I agree that technique is the biggest factor, but for razor bumps I've had good experiences with Jason tea tree/aloe vera gel, Woody's Soothing Bump gel and Nivea sensitive balm.

***Woody's has salicylic acid, so while it works best on bumps, be careful with the redness. Irritated skin + sal. acid can equal more irritation.***

hope this helps.

+ 1 for Thayer's Medicated Witch Hazel

Also, I have found that Clubman Complete aftershave balm works wonders on my skin.

Clinique post shave healer used after an alum block treatment works well for me. Fortunately now that my technique has improved I don't need to use it much anymore.

Since ive started the DE shaves....its not bumps that bother me...i actually have almost eliminated bumps...my problem is just red skin...that burns...its not bumps or ingrown hairs. Almost like carpet burn on my face. I know that its my technique and possibly blades too. I need something that will calm it down quick. Ive used witch hazel and it works somewhat....but it seems that i have these lingering splochy places. Is thayers medicated a huge upgrade from generic witch hazel?

@obsessed
Ive actually never tried any type of alcohol splash.....balms are all ive used. Wanted to try Clubman Bay Rum but cant find it locally

If I just have a terrible shave. Witch hazel after the warm water rinse. Cold water rinse and then The Gentlemens Refinery Aftershave balm. It is quite milky but for some reason zaps the irritation/burn immediately. The first ingredient is allantoin but dont know if that is the key. The product is pricey but damn it works wonders!

Witch hazel works well for me, followed by nivea sensitive post shave balm, but this is not the first time I have heard rave reviews about The Gentlemen's Refinery Aftershave balm. I have heard so many fantastic things about it in fact, I have been considering trying it myself. Its a bit pricey, but I do get bad razor burns from time to time. Between the new Derby's with the QC problem and my newbish tendencies I find I need to keep good aftershaves handy. I might end up up trying this out and doing a review on it shortly. Good luck.
