? about prices in Germany vs internet

Hi, this is probably directed at members living in Germany or who have visited Germany and made some purchases.

I plan on going to Germany in October and while there will look for a razor or two (plus some related items). Will I find better prices on Merkur razors such as the Futur which I see on WestCoastShaving.com for $57 and Vision which looks like it can be had for around $115. The Slant looks to be in the $57 range as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are looking for Gillette razors, you can meet me in Berlin.

I bought my Slant for 25 Euros, the HD was 29. Both in a spe......t shop in Würzburg. The Futur should set you back about 60-70 Euros.

OK, I'll admit to being uneducated in BB ways: why the dickens can't I write special ist ( or social ism for that matter) here???

Ah, now I get it! Is it really because the name of a masculinity-encancment drug is part of that word?

Thanks for the offer but I don't think I'll be making it to Berlin. I will be
Bremen, Hamburg, Lauenburg, Bohmte, Emden, Wefensleben, Braunschweig, Nürnberg, Lappersdorf, and Beratzhausen.

I will not have much time in each city, I have some commitments in each but I will try to have a look for shaving "stuff".

So it seems the prices on line are about the same or less than I would find in shops in Germany? My main advantage would be to put my hands on them and get a feel if I like them or not?

Hi
you can visit to a shop "Manufactum" but the items there aren't cheap too.

Best regards from Berlin/Germany

Not a bad thing with Merkur razors, don't you think?
My supplier in Würzburg has the whole range, I really liked to be able to make a decision by taking every single razor in my hands.
You probably don't stand to save an awfil lot of money by buying razors, I'm afraid.

What type of shop should I look for? I have one in Emden I now know of and should be able to make a trip to visit. But if anyone might suggest what type of shop to look for.....cutlery/knife shop?

Thanks for your thoughts....

Cutlery/knives shops are a good choice, but there are also shaving shops which sell only shaving goods.

The funny thing is that it might be cheaper to buy merkur razors abroad...at least I bought mine in the UK at a considerable discount over GER. Just make sure you check that out before coming over...btw where are you going to?

Don't forget that prices in Germany include VAT a tax of 18%. I think you can reclaim this tax at the airport on departure if you retain the receipt.

You can purchase Tobac soap in the bowl for about 12 euro.
Most good prices I have found are from interenet traders.

I don't think the prices are particularly low, but you may see something special that is only available in Europe..

Rather than look for razor gear, I'd enjoy the people, the food and the beer.

Thanks for the info - I will enjoy my friends, and perhaps a I'll force myself to have a beer or two or three, who knows I am not an accountant and not very good with numbers :^x
