About Battle Brothers Shaving Co.

Hello everyone! I'm Andrew, the team lead here for Battle Brothers! I'm the general 'face' of our organization here on the forum. We are truly excited to be here on badgerandblade.com! Our goal here is to connect with fellow shaving enthusiasts with maximum transparency. It's been a long road for the team and I to take what was a hobby and our own 'shaving club', to a class of product we are truly proud of. Like many of you, we were on the quest for the greatest shaving experience we could find.

Our passion was a hobby that turned into a business! "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." -Marc Anthony. And I truly believe it!

Our mission is to provide truly outstanding products ranging from brushes, razors and blades to soaps, shampoos and such. Below is a quick overview of who we are and what we are all about!

BATTLE BROTHERS

The true beginnings of Battle Brothers Shaving Co come from my deployments to OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom). I was a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crew chief for medical evacuation. Our unit was broken down into 4 smaller teams spread over 4 different locations throughout the country. There were 20-25 soldiers per team, with 2-3 helicopters each. Our mission was to provide medical assistance, support and evacuation to anyone in need; military, civilian, animals and enemy alike. Everyone was given equal treatment 24/7.

Living at a small forward operating base (FOB) has its own unique challenges. Month after month we ate, slept, laughed and fought together. As the missions went on, our bonds strengthened, a brotherhood was formed. Amidst the chaos of life on deployment, we found simple things to take joy in……like shaving! What started out as a requirement, turned into a hobby and then became a mission to find the perfect shave! Between the whole team, we had all sorts of razors, blades, brushes, soaps and techniques to test, try and compare. Through this process we discovered that, while using high quality products, each person needed a slightly different technique to achieve their own best shave. This little time of luxury, that turned into a group hobby, inspired my own personal quest of finding the best shaving experience for each individual’s customized shaving needs.

Welcome, Andrew. Do you have a website? Never mind. Forgot to turn my phone to landscape so I could see your Sig.

Andrew, first thank you immensely for your service to our great nation. I will be following your company closely and looking at the items offered.

First, thank you for your service.

Enjoyed reading your intro. Just signed up for your newsletter.

Thank you everyone, real excited to finally launch! We have a lot of projects in the works but we felt secure that what we have so far is worth launching.

Excellent intro! Had I not grown a beard during my time in Afghanistan...I likely would have been looking for that perfect shave also. Very excited to see your company grow. Thanks for introduction!

Nice looking site. Cool looking razors what grade S's? What's the blade gap? (How does it shave) where are they made?

Any plans to do soap or aftershave?

Andrew, thank you and your business partner for your service. I'd like to try your blades, but don't want to commit to buying 100 at first. Is there any way to buy a tuck or two to sample? If I like them, I'll certainly buy in bulk. Best of luck with your business venture. I love seeing veteran-owned businesses succeed. :thumbup1:

Hi Rhody, great question, I’m working on a snippet for this in our little section. Yes we are developing our own shaving soaps, shampoos & conditioners etc. We are going to have two lines, one will be made by a soap factory with our ‘recipe’ from a soap artisan we are working with. The quality will be there with the intendants and manufacturing process but the key with this one will be scalability. The goal is to retail these around $10-12

The second line will be made directly by a soap artisan. These will be handmade, premium ingredients and each batch is cured for 8 weeks. As you can imagine this process takes a very long time, over a year for us right now. Ever 8 weeks we test and adjust. Hoping to get these under $20 and our goal is to have these ready sometime 2018! Here’s our latest batch.

The blades have a story of their own! One that I'll elaborate a different time. =) If I may get super technical, then make it more understandable - The blades are 6Cr13(GB) stainless steel alloy. That means they are designed to have a small uniform grain. The intention here is to have the steel be very hard and can be sharpened to where we want it. The trick is to have a razor be super sharp, but not peel your face off. We feel like we found a fantastic balance! Our end product testers said it was amongst the best blades they have ever used. zknives.com has some good information on this that says basically the same exact thing. They are an independent review site for knives, flashlights and stuff.

Our goal is to have these babes made 100% in the US with US steel. But it's cost prohibitive right now.

Currently we import steel from Europe to a factory in China then to us. It’s an incredibly expensive process be we felt it necessary if we are going to do this right. Some reference in the cost, Dollar Shave Club spent $100 million on a razor factory in Germany! :a47:

I would be happy to send you some samples! Feel free to send me a PM here or an email to my team and I’ll get it to our fulfilment center [email protected]

I’d just need your name and address =)
